there are some aspects of globalization and colonialism i benefit from everyday.
today i ate rice and peppers and ate out of season yams and apples, drank several cups of tea, all without paying mind that the same system the brings me this food also enables weapons to travel across the globe, arming countries and fueling atrocities that are convenient, if not helpful to the interests of the united states.
its so easy to disociate from the news; to imagine four hundred deaths in several days. who wants to imagine such heart-breaking and needless tragedy? especially if there are ways we can hold ourselves accountable.
i created the above image to start a new year, to be more committed to international soldidarity, for while i have no direct connection to the middle east, i do have connections to a history of colonialism and united states imperialism.

the ghost of december twenty-ninth was drawn with the edges of finger nails and eyelashes into the air where it proceded to float out into the rest of the world.
